The time has come. I am so happy to introduce the first ever Welcome to the Wedding Closet Series. Remember this post here? Cris and I were determined to find an outfit in each of our closets that didn't cost us a dime and that was wedding appropriate. Guess what? We succeed. We know what it is like to have to spend money on being a wedding guest. The bill can quickly add up. It is nice to have a girlfriend come pull together a fun outfit out of what you already own.
Notes about this video:
1. We have fun but what else did you expect?

My Joy
{Pinterest via Design Inspiration}
Today equals a bit of a serious post. I shared this little photo via Instagram (@katiefarrin) the other day and most of you have seen/heard it 100 times. Regardless, it rings true. You know people stare at you when you say you blog. Now I do not blog for a living but this blog is growing. More than ever I am loving writing, answering emails and pushing myself to grow this little homestead.
When I started this blog I thought it would strictly be inspiration for brides. And while the blog is that, it has also grown to show real weddings. I answer relationship advice. I encourage woman after the wedding. I feel that is so important. Wedding blogs do show pretty pictures but this blog is a bit more. It helps you understand money in marriage, communicating with your other half & a freshness for life. I want Lovebird Productions to make you happy.
There are blogs all across the Internet. Some have thousands of readers. I was browsing a few blogs the other day and started to feel inadequate. I came across this quote and immediately quite feeling sorry for myself. I realized that I get to do what I love every day. I get to write this diary. I am beyond lucky y'all.
I also realized that I want to take the blog a little further. I want to make a few positive changes. While some of these changes you may never notice, I will let you know along the way. The time is now. I cannot sit and watch another day pass knowing that I could have done more. Let the brainstorming begin.
I just needed to share today. Sorry for no Wedding Dress Wednesday. I wanted you to know my heart. I want you to know that I am not going anywhere. My passion is this blog/writing. Now for what the future has...

Q & A: How Do You Come Up With Your Content?
Happy Thursday! I am currently in Arkansas and preparing for one of my best friends wedding. Guess what? I have no video cameras with me. But Katie, how are you surviving? I know! I do have my camera (picture camera that is) around my neck though. Today is full of lunch dates, seeing friends, hugging necks and loving on my family. Also my niece is making her acting career debut tonight. I cannot wait to watch.
What does this picture have to do with anything? Not much except that I love Arkansas. I really love it. How about we get started on Thursday's Q & A session?
Q. How do you come up with your content?
A. Sometimes I wonder the same thing. But honestly, it does take a bit of brainstorming. I am a bit of a Chatty Kathy but I tend to focus on topics like life, relationships, love and weddings.
I do love to throw in pretty pictures. It is a must. I spend almost as much time finding the right picture as I do writing my post. It takes time to spell check, proofread and develop a story. I like writing a post that leaves your day better. I find that important. Even if my post only helps or encourages one person, it was worth the time it took me to write it.
Back when it was my blogiversary week, I did post my daily schedule here. It shows a bit of the process of creating a post. Things have changed a bit since I do work 35 hours a week in an office in downtown New Braunfels. Regardless, I write what is on my mind. I set my own rules. I enjoy what I do and love writing, errors and all. Finding a blog voice has been the biggest lesson. Sometimes a picture sparks an idea while other times I may have been slowly adding to a post over a few weeks. Yes, I do research topics. Yes, I do brainstorm. Yes, I blabber but the most important thing is the end result which is a happy bride and a pleased Katie. Thus, this is how content is born for Lovebird Productions. For more on this little blog read my first post here and a bit of background here.
I hate to disappoint any of you that thought it was a magical process. Just like writing a post, inspiration is everywhere. Be inspired and if you have a blog, pass it along. I would love to read it! Happy Thursday friends!

Making Friends on the Internet
Guys, we are almost to the weekend...again. Funny how every few days the weekend rolls around. This week has moved very, very quickly. Next week may be the most exciting week for me ever. We do a walk through of our new house on Monday morning. I will be heading back home for one of my best friends wedding on Wednesday. I get to see my family. I get to be in Arkansas. The following week, we move into our new house in NB! I promise to share all the photos with you. It is such a crazy thought that I am going to be a homeowner. Crazy!

Q. Do you really make friends through the Internet?
A. Honestly this question makes me laugh. If you would have asked me a year and a half ago when I started this blog if some of my dearest friends would be made online I would have shouted "NO!" But don't new hobbies teach you surprising lessons.
Blogging is very much a big part of my day. I love it a whole lot. With being online and working in the wedding industry, you connect with other vendors and bloggers who deal with exactly what you deal with on a daily basis. It is just natural to connect with others online. This past year has brought so many new friendships to the table. I can remember telling Rusty that I was meeting one of these ladies that I connected with online. He instinctively was a tad worried but now understands it. It is nice to surround yourself with woman who are experiencing the same woes and joys that you do. I am grateful for all of these friendships.
So let's meet some of my favorite people:

It is official. I don't know what I did before my friendship with Tina. I am not really sure how it all started but between our tweets, emails, instagram likes I feel like we have become very close. Tina is such an encourager. She always lifts my spirits and gets me laughing. She also loves exclamation marks as much as I do! Ha! (Silly but important) Tina also works full time in an office plus runs a successful company that is beyond awesome at branding, market, print publications, invites and design. I love her work....and Tina!

This is no secret. You know from this post here, here and here that I love Cris, her blog, her family, her pup and cat plus her blog. Go now and get your entertainment in for the day over on her site. One thing I love about Cris is she is never afraid to be herself. She is witty, smart, driven and a true blessing. Colleen has the sweetest heart. Every time we talk I am more and more blessed by her loving personality. I have to say that I think Colleen's blog theme is really, really smart. Lovebird Spotting: Cris and Jerry
I can't tell you how excited I am to introduce you to today's fabulous couple. Most of you may know Cris of Kiss My Tulle but today you get to know her a bit more. Cris and I became friends through the fabulous groups TWIPS. More on our blates (bloggers dates) here and here. We are both bridal bloggers and we both live in the Texas Hill Country. It is funny how quick we hit it off. We hugged at our first meeting and I have been calling her my lover ever since. She has introduced me to a few flea markets, Spring Branch, hole in the wall restaurants, breakfast tacos (veggie style) and ways to be a better blogger. I am so lucky to call this lady my friend. Yeah, I could talk about how great Cris is forever.
You can imagine my surprise when she asked me to be her videographer. Actually, she kindly asked whether I wanted to be a guest or film her big day. I have never had a friend ask that and it just shows the kind of heart she has. Also Cris knows the importance of wedding videos which has been extremely helpful. Not that all brides do not know that but Cris has been so encouraging in what I love to do. I have cut strips of fabric, painted plates and thrift shopped for her big day. I am so excited!
Cris and Jerry are one of a kind. She is sassy and he just laughs at her. It is the perfect pair. Five minutes around these guys and you want to be friends with them for life. I know their big day will be intimate, sweet, moving and just plain fun. Meet Cris and Jerry:
1. Tell me how you two met.
Actually, my dad introduced us. I was living in LA and my mom started emailing me about this guy and how she loved him and wished he'd marry my (crazy) older sister so he could be a member of our family. I ignored her. Then I went home for Christmas and my dad introduced me to this guy, The Boy. He was wearing a hot pink feather boa and dancing with my (then 8 year-old) little sister to "High School Musical." I thought he was totally gay.
Later, I moved back to Alaska to help my parents remodel a rental house for… The Boy. My dad strong-armed us into going out on a date. We had a great time and have been together ever since.
2. How was your first date? What did you do?
Our first date was traditional. He picked me up and we drove an hour to the nearest town (rural Alaska, y'all) for dinner at The Cookie Jar. Then we went to the now defunct Silver Spur, a country bar. That was it. We mostly talked and I thought he was nice.
3. What is your favorite memory as a couple?
We are baseball fanatics (he's Texas Rangers, I'm Boston Red Sox). Every year we drive to Arlington and go to a Red Sox and Rangers game. I have photos of us from every year and plan on displaying them at our wedding. We love this tradition so much that it is one of the themes of our engagement session AND we're already planning on when we take our children with us!
4. How did he propose?
It's actually gross and not work safe (think middle-aged, naked people).
5. Details about your wedding. Date, color scheme, theme, location…
It's at our home in the Texas Hill Country on May 26, 2012. I'm modeling it after the Sunday summer parties that my grandma loved to throw in her backyard when I was a kid. Lots of quilts to lay on, lots of yard games, lots of simple but elegantly presented food, everyone still in their church clothes. I loved it and I'm using those memories as my "mood board". I'm making a quilt from scraps for the ceremony, the ring pillow is faux quilted, the tables are made from old palettes, I'm collecting mismatched white plates from thrift stores for the buffet, and we're serving fried chicken. Very simple, very pretty, very us.
And lastly Cris' advice:
It cannot be said enough. At the end of the day, a wedding IS JUST A PARTY. The ceremony is about a marriage. That doesn't mean that you can't have fun and want pretty things but keep it all in perspective.

A Little Family Style Supper
Like the post title? A little different I know. I promise that this post is going to make sense. You just have to stick with me. I might go in a round about way but we will get there, together. How was your weekend? I hope you jumped right into Monday morning with a smile on your face.
This weekend consisted of a lot of outdoor activities for me. One thing that I love about San Antonio is this amazing weather. Sunday the temperatures were perfect so my new best friend/lover Cris of Kiss My Tulle and I wandered to Bussey's Flea Market. Read more on our last adventure here. Cris has told me about Bussey's but I don't think any description she could give would have prepared me. This place was huge. I mean HUGE. We arrived around 10:30 and didn't leave until almost 3. We braved all the people and had such a fun time browsing, bartering and searching out the deals. This flea market had literally everything you could think of. Old cast iron skillet? Yep. They had it. A Few Good Men VHS? Totally had it. Border Collie puppies that were so sweet, lovable and for sale? Check. I wanted one. My husband told me no. I cried. Then I ate ice cream.
I did find an rustic sea foam green iron planter. It is going to look perfect in the entry way of our home. Cris found fabric, an antique Pyrex bowl and the neatest equestrian door ringer thingy. I promise it is way cooler than I just described. I have to say, Bussey's may be my new favorite place. It was fabulous and did I mention that I got an ice cream cone? As in Strawberry with real strawberries mixed in? As in Blue Bell Strawberry? As in good? You with me friends? Sigh. Moving on.
Cris and I took a picture this time to show everyone just how real our love is. ha! I kid but honestly I am so thankful for Cris. She really does brighten my day and is such a funny person. I also got to meet her arm candy, Jerry. He was a hoot. After just a few minutes around them and you can tell just what a perfect match they are. Big fan of Cris and Jerry! Isn't she the prettiest?
A few weeks ago when I participated in the Hill Country Bridal Spectacular (read more on that here) I got to sample tons of goodies. One booth I went straight to was Werner's Catering. They surprised me not only with their delicious samplers but the extensive amount of options to try. They had meats, sauces, different style potatoes and more. It was fabulous!
I picked up one of their pamphlets to learn more about their company. I browsed to the back of the menu and saw that they offered various styles of catering. They offered buffet and plated sit-down style dinner but their was one new style that I had never seen or ever thought to incorporate into a wedding. They had a family style dinner. Genius, I saw!
I would say 98% of couples planning their wedding want their guests to feel cozy, happy and taken care of. Nothing says love and wedding bliss than a family bellying up to the dinner table. Imagine your guests sitting down at their table to eat dinner just like they would at home. I seriously love this idea! Werner's says it best:

Brunch Date with Cris - Thank you TWIPS!
This past May I was able to join a bridal community for wedding bloggers, planners, photographers, videographers and other vendors. You can read all about that excitement here. Throughout my time in TWIPS, I have been blessed by women who are smart, strong, creative and business savvy. These women are such an encouragement and true mentors. My favorite part about this community is the relationships that I have built. Some of these women were strangers but now feel like friends.
Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting one of these lovely ladies. For a few weeks now, Cris Stone of Kiss My Tulle and I have been exchanging emails and finally got to meet for brunch yesterday. We explained to our husbands how we were meeting someone off the Internet and joked about their concern. Cris and I realized that we both live in the Texas Hill Country and our homes are about 10 minutes apart!
We ventured into New Braunfels for a yummy brunch at Red Rooster. It was delicious and the conversation was even better. I think I could have sat and talked all day with her! Here is what I love about Cris:
1. She is witty. She tells it how it is and keeps you laughing.
2. She is beyond talented. The thing about blogging is it takes a lot of guts. You put yourself out there. You get praise. You get criticized but the real test of character is to keep going. Cris can write like no one's business. Her personality is in every post and she is not only blog savvy but very techy. She can design, market and produce HTML with the best of them.
3. She has such a sweet heart. As soon as she pulled into the driveway we hugged. I knew right then that I was going to have a great brunch date. I like to hug. Weird, I know. Cris shared stories about her life and the recent passing of her father. She is so brave and inspiring!
4. She let me ask 750 questions about Alaska. This one is self-explanatory. Would you still be smiling after 750 questions about where you grew up?
