Candace and Myron's Surprise First Dance

Oh my goodness! I am so excited for today's post. I don't care what anyone says or how over played these videos are on Youtube, couples who do surprise dances are amazing to me! Meet Candace and Myron. I met Candace almost a year before her wedding and they immediately became one of my favorite couples. Candace let me in on their secret that they were doing a surprise first dance. Besides her now husband Myron, I was the only one who knew. Imagine trying to keep that in on the wedding day?

The best part is when Myron and Candace's son, MJ, gets in on the action. This video makes me laugh every time and I may have already watched it 30 times just because it is that good! Minute 2:10 is the start of the fun. Eeeek! I love this video!

Jessica and Doug's Wedding Highlight

It has been a while since I have shown you any work that I have done with summer weddings. I can say that I am 100% involved in all Texas weddings. Each one has been so different but every couple is just as nice as the next. I really am lucky with the brides that I have met and developed friendships with.

Jessica is no exception. From the first time we had our coffee sit down she was so kind. She asked the right questions and was so prepared for our time together. That is so refreshing! I actually got to be a part of both the rehearsal and the wedding. When I went to drop off some completed DVDs with Jessica's parents, they invited me, hugged my neck and treated me like family. I am truly blessed to have been a part of this special couples wedding weekend. Now maximizes this video, turn up the speakers and enjoy Douglas and Jessica.

Love Story: Meet Lace and Randy

Happy Monday folks! I hope that everyone spent their weekend celebrating their dad and spent time with family. I love holiday weekends.

When working with a new client/bride I always like to meet the bride. It just assures that we are the right fit for one another. If a meeting cannot happen due to schedules or location then a phone call is a must. Lace contacted me a while back and was interested in my services. After a few emails, we exchanged numbers and set a time to talk on the phone.

When I called her, we talked so easily and I never would have thought we were strangers. We agreed to meet to film her love story with her fiance Randy. Weeks later I met up with this pair and when Lace walked out to greet me I thought, "Can I really be this blessed?" Lace is beyond gorgeous y'all. Randy is a lucky man. Her family greeted me so warmly and I felt comfortable with them right away.

Randy made me laugh all day long and I can see why Lace loves that about him. I spent the afternoon in Fredericksburg filming and talking with this sweet, sweet couple. They really are a perfect match. They compliment each other so well and this little video just gets me more excited for their wedding day! Let's meet Lace and Randy:

Lovebird Spotting: Candace and Myron

I am beyond thrilled to share my July 8th couple with you. I first met Candace and Myron last September when this sweet couple approached my booth at the San Antonio Bridal Extravagnza. I was still very new to Texas and wedding videography. They were so kind and from the moment we started talking I knew this two were the perfect fit for me. About two weeks later, the papers were signed and I was an official vendor for their big day.

Candace and Myron are probably the sweetest people I have ever met. They are uplifting, tender hearted and special. I am so excited for their big day! Now for how these two met and fell in love:

1. Tell me how you two met.

Shockingly enough Myron and I met on Christian Mingle. I never would’ve though in a million years that I would meet the man that God designed with me in mind on an online website. My mom encouraged me to get on the site due to my tedious schedule as a 1st year school teacher by day and a grad school student by night. She knew I didn’t have much time to date so she suggested that I try out something different. I signed up for the 8 month membership and browsed different profiles in the first couple of months. When I didn’t find any one I was interested in I took a bit of a break from this online site. In January I got on the site and browsed through different profiles and saw Myron’s picture. I just loved his smile and when I read his profile I was intrigued on how he spoke about his son. I decided to be bold and sent him a “smile” in return of the smile his profile gave me when I looked at it. He responded immediately and sent a “smile” back. We began e-mailing each other on the site and ended up exchanging numbers. We texted each other non-stop 24/7.

2. How was your first date? What did you do?

Well it had been a week of Myron and I texting and we hadn’t spoken on the phone once. It was a Friday evening after work and Myron texted me stating that he knew it was probably soon but he would love to see me this evening. Excited and nervous I said sure and hurriedly rushed home to get ready. He wouldn’t disclose the location of our date but did tell me to wear comfortable shoes because we would be having some fun. I decided to wear a cute top, jeans and some nice boots. I arrived at his apartment and for the first time I had to call so he knew I made it there. He gave me the gate code, directions to his place and I waited in my car for about 30 seconds tops. He came out and sweetly greeted me with a handshake and hug. He opened the door for me and helped me in his Tahoe. He was very talkative so I could tell he was nervous but he asked tons of questions as he was trying to get to know me. We finally made it to our dating destination…….Dave & Busters. Did someone say FUN, FUN, FUN? As soon as we were seated I was impressed. Myron didn’t even touch his menu. He continued to ask questions about me and kept complete eye contact. He was such a gentleman at all times even when the waiter came to the table and he always ensured that I got what I needed. The conversation we had was great. There was a lot of learning about each other and much laughter. Next, the games began…literally. We played ski-ball, basketball, air hockey, and even had a blast in the fake roller coaster ride. I enjoyed his company so much. What a fun first date!!

(P.s. Dave and Buster's is huge in Texas. People love that place. I haven't been but hope to!)

3. What is your favorite memory as a couple?

My favorite memory as a couple was in celebration of my 25th birthday. Myron surprised me with a getaway trip to Dallas. He took me to Embassy Suites and as soon as we arrived he told me that we needed to walk to the second floor where the spa was located. I was treated to a massage, facial, manicure, pedicure and a tasty lunch with champagne. After my special treatment, Myron brought me back to the hotel room and it was decorated with fresh rose petals, balloons and an “I Love You” picture. We had a great time swimming at the hotel pool and hanging out on the balcony watching a free baseball game. This was truly a fond memory that we will always treasure together.

4. How did he propose?

As a school teacher I have a lot of training to attend prior to the first day of school. August 17, 2011 was no different. Myron’s father and step mother were coming to meet my parents in San Antonio that evening. I got out of training late and was going to have to rush to my parents’ house. When talking with my mother she told me to wear a nice shirt but I told her I was too tired to do that. After quick contemplation I knew I didn’t want to disappoint my mom so I grabbed a nice shirt from my apartment and headed to San Antonio. When I arrived I changed my shirt and tried to relax before Myron’s parents came over. When Myron arrived he was dressed very nice, which was already his norm. Our parents introduced themselves and we sat and talked with each other, just getting acquainted. My mom began to talk about Myron and I and how blessed she felt about our relationship and how family is very important. In mid sentence Myron interrupted her and said, “I have an announcement to make.” I gave him an awkward glare because he cut off my mom and then I had no clue what the announcement was. Myron looked at me and said, “Candace I love you very much.” I told him that I love him too. During this time I noticed my mom sliding the video camera to Myron’s half brother and I began to freak out. I knew what was about to happen. Myron got up from the bar stool and got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. With much excitement I told him yes of course. Family members began hugging each other in bliss. August 17th was definitely a day to remember.

5. Details about your wedding. Date, color scheme, theme, location…

Our wedding will be taking place on July 8,2012. We are getting married at Granberry Hills on the Gardenside. Our colors are pool blue and silver. We don’t have a specific theme set for our wedding.

And lastly Candace's advice:

Do as much as you can after you get engaged to alleviate stress of all the details involved. Get your fiancĂ© involved to help out. If he is ready and willing don’t deter him from that. If he’s not, remind him that it is both of you that are in the wedding and his involvement is important to you. Go to pre-marriage counseling. It helps you address any issues that at times are not brought up in your normal relationship routine. Pray together! There will be a lot of trials and tribulations that will come your way but prayer with your mate is very important. Last, but not least...enjoy the process, it can be tons of fun!

I told you they are great! I cannot wait to show you a few treats from their day. Happy Tuesday friends!

Polish Wedding, Kilts, A Stabrucks Bar & Flavored Popcorn

Happy Monday friends! I feel like I have so much to tell you about this past weekends wedding. It was so much fun! Each wedding I am at I think to myself how kind these people are. It is always a treat.

I started my Friday night with this family filming the rehearsal dinner and ended my Saturday watching her family and friends bask in Polish traditions. This is the first wedding that I attended that the family used traditions from their heritage. I do have plenty of Instagram photos to share but first a few of my favorite parts.

Bread and salt blessing: Jessica and Doug were such a fun couple. I have to say that their guests were even more entertaining. Right after Doug and Jessica were announced and enjoyed their first dance, the parents came to the front to carry on a family tradition known as the "Bread and Salt Blessing." Doug's dad explained what was on two silver trays. One tray had a piece of bread and a small salt shaker. Doug's dad explained that the bread is so that the couple never goes hungry. Jessica's mom tore off two small bites of bread and the couple ate the pieces. Next, Doug's mom explained that the salt is to symbolized trials in life in hopes that the couple would take those tests and struggles with a grain of salt. The bread was then sprinkled with salt and the couple took a small bite.

Doug's dad brought out the second tray. It had two small shot glasses of clear liquor. The first shot was water. The water showed hopes that the couple would never go thirsty. The second shot to be explained was vodka. The crowd perked up at this point. Doug's dad said that the vodka shot shows who wears the pants in the relationship. At this point the couple has no idea which shot is what. They each picked one and took the shot. Jessica got the vodka. The guests (and vendors) got a big kick out of it! It was too fun.

This wedding had such sweet touches of traditions, heritage and just good ole fashioned fun. Even Jessica's 85 year old grandfather showed off on the dance floor. How about a few images I snapped via Instgram? Sorry for the quality.

1. Boulder Springs was amazing.
2. I love a pretty cut of wood, lanterns and candles.
3. Ah, the veil dance. This is another polish tradition. The Maid of Honor removes the brides veil and then sits holding the veil like a pouch. Guests drop in money to dance with the bride. Once you finish dancing (guests only) take a shot and eat a piece of chocolate. It was too fun! The groom ended up throwing his entire wallet into the veil at the end.
4. That shot that I mentioned.
5. Kilts are always a wedding must.
6. The groom manages a Starbucks. A coffee bar was the perfect touch.
7. Popcorn and candy bar for the ride home.
8. What my Sunday afternoon looked like.

I do feel like Jessica and Doug's family are a part of my family. This couple is so sweet and have such great examples to learn from. I hope that you had a great weekend as well! I cannot wait to show you video from this too fun wedding!

Wedding Venue: Milltown Historic District

Good morning friends! I hope that you all had a fabulous weekend and are raring and ready to go today. As many of you know I have a side gig where I work in a rental agency three afternoons a week. Each winter we have older couples that come and stay for a few months and enjoy the warmer weather (compared to their winters: Illinois, Minnesota, Canada). We recently threw a nice get together for the winter visitors at Milltown Historic District in New Braunfels. This was the first time that I got to see the finished product. It is a bride's dream come true!

Not only does the property boast a gorgeous pavilion but also cottages to rent. Just think you can have you entire wedding party and family all stay in the same location. The pavilion has a kitchen, stone fireplace and plenty of seating and tables. You can also forgo the pavilion all together and host your ceremony plus reception on the water front. Oh did I mention the stunning views and private river access? No? Well you can get married with the pretty river right behind you. The folks at Milltown knew exactly what they were doing when they fixed up this property. I could go on and on about this amazing space but instead I have picture overload. I loved getting to photograph this space. It is charming, provides activities for your friends and family, has sleeping space and is in great location to downtown New Braunfels. The Milltown Historic District has something to offer each and every bride.

And now for the inside:

What do you think? If you are interested in renting the pavilion for any type of function contact Diana and the staff at Milltown. They will take care of you! You can visit their website by clicking here or check out their Facebook page here. If you would like to make a booking for the rental cottages on the property, River City Resorts can help. Contact the sweet ladies at RCR here. I hope this space brings a smile to your face. Wow, rhyming on a Monday!

I was not paid to say all these nice things about Milltown Historic District. I just think these folks are too kind!

Brunch Date with Cris - Thank you TWIPS!

This past May I was able to join a bridal community for wedding bloggers, planners, photographers, videographers and other vendors. You can read all about that excitement here. Throughout my time in TWIPS, I have been blessed by women who are smart, strong, creative and business savvy. These women are such an encouragement and true mentors. My favorite part about this community is the relationships that I have built. Some of these women were strangers but now feel like friends.

Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting one of these lovely ladies. For a few weeks now, Cris Stone of Kiss My Tulle and I have been exchanging emails and finally got to meet for brunch yesterday. We explained to our husbands how we were meeting someone off the Internet and joked about their concern. Cris and I realized that we both live in the Texas Hill Country and our homes are about 10 minutes apart!

We ventured into New Braunfels for a yummy brunch at Red Rooster. It was delicious and the conversation was even better. I think I could have sat and talked all day with her! Here is what I love about Cris:

1. She is witty. She tells it how it is and keeps you laughing.

2. She is beyond talented. The thing about blogging is it takes a lot of guts. You put yourself out there. You get praise. You get criticized but the real test of character is to keep going. Cris can write like no one's business. Her personality is in every post and she is not only blog savvy but very techy. She can design, market and produce HTML with the best of them.

3. She has such a sweet heart. As soon as she pulled into the driveway we hugged. I knew right then that I was going to have a great brunch date. I like to hug. Weird, I know. Cris shared stories about her life and the recent passing of her father. She is so brave and inspiring!

4. She let me ask 750 questions about Alaska. This one is self-explanatory. Would you still be smiling after 750 questions about where you grew up?

I cannot thank Cris enough for getting together with me and gabbing about blogs, wedding details and life! Make sure you go and check out her awesome blog, Kiss My Tulle. I promise she will keep you laughing and her blog will become an every day occurrence.

Before I go I wanted to thank the TWIPS community for building friendships, connecting wedding pros and for encouraging women to be strong and passionate about what they do. Happy Monday friends!

Hill Country Bridal Spectacular

Happy Monday friends! I am writing this post feeling so refreshed. Last night I got 12 hours of sleep. 12 hours. Yes, I was so tired but now I feel like a million dollars. Now if only I had a million dollars. ha!

This weekend has been so exciting! We ventured to our first concert and rodeo in San Antonio. It was so much fun and my cowgirl boots fit right in. Sunday I participated in the Hill Country Bridal Spectacular. I met wonderful brides but the vendors were what blew my socks off! I may be a bit partial but the row of vendors where my booth was located had a blast! We were on the far side of the convention center and brides took a bit to get over to our side. The Courtyard by Marriott New Braunfels River Village had mimosas and chocolate covered strawberries that they kindly shared with our tables. I also had the privilege of getting to know the sweet ladies of the McKenna Events Center. They also won best booth! Some of the proceeds of the Bridal Spectacular went to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation which I was excited about. I love the idea of giving back!

The brides were so sweet and fun! I am still amazed at how many people are not familiar with wedding videography. Not as in people who haven't thought about it but people who honestly don't know what it is. I like being able to tell my story of why I started this venture and the fun I am having along the way! I changed up my booth a bit this time. One new item was the white framed chalkboard in the middle. That DIY is coming up this week on the blog! I also used my new silver dessert stand to hold my business cards. After my first bridal fair I learned to downsize my buckets of decor and focus more on showcasing my portfolio, not my attempt to be crafty.

Yesterday was full of new faces, hard work, fun and a night of rest. See you guys tomorrow!
