Hey! Remember that one time we were all like lets tear down our kitchen and make a new one? Well the Farrins finally hit their breaking point.
We love the guys working on the kitchen. In fact, I enjoy treating them to slushes at Sonic but we finally hit a wall. We were ready to be done and just like that our crew wrapped up all they could do now.
There are so many new aspects to this kitchen. New can lights, new design, new cabinets, new everything. So it is taking us a while to get the feel for this new space. Do we put the cups here and the plates there? Or wait what about the mixing bowls? We have so much new storage! It is kind of fun. I secretly enjoy hiding things from R so that he has to always ask where stuff is. Yeah, I play little games like that with myself. I am a bundle of laughs.
But we are officially done with the kitchen remodel. Well kind of. Well not really. See we still need countertops (we have plywood down right now) and floors (no idea what to do there?). We have a couple quotes out on countertops and well the flooring situation is going no where fast.
To let you in on a little known secret, R and I rarely agree on anything. It makes things fun but also a bit difficult especially when it comes to designing a kitchen. We FINALLY found a floor that we loved. It was a nice dark engineered hardwood. We loved it so much in fact that we thought about ripping up everything and putting it down in our 3,400 square foot home. We called the flooring store to move forward with the process AND they don't sell it anymore. We just laughed to help from crying. So no floor. We may just stain the plywood for now.
I am going to try to explain some things with each picture and it will be a while until I share the official reveal with you (due to floors and countertops). But here is our kitchen now and to say I am in love is an understatement. I am finding multiple reasons to be in this space! And to see the beginning stages with wallpaper that kills your eyeballs to look at start here, here and here.
So who is coming over for dinner? :)
Using subway tile to go up this wall. I pet the tile I love it so much.
The island houses a bookshelf, dishwasher, hidden trash cabinet, tons of storage on the back side and a farmhouse sink that whispers "I love you Katie." everyday and I whisper it back. I know. I just made things weird but alas.
Our white farmhouse sink is in and it is fabulous! I currently enjoy washing dishes in it. In the far left corner we are awaiting a nice new stainless steel fridge.
Dining room space.
We added a new back door that lets in light. If you can't tell I am all about natural light. We also tore down the wall to our laundry room to build a new one with a pocket door.
Open shelves for all my pretties.
We have opted for long sleek, metal handles for the drawers and cabinets.
Gorgeous, Katie! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks friend! It is coming along :)
