When we bought this house our kitchen was 100% a box. The shape of it, the cabinets, stove, all of it fit into this tiny box. The pantry wasn't in the box but on the other side of the wall. I had to leave the kitchen and walk down a hall to get to it. And that was okay for a while but ultimately we knew we wanted to change it.
We designed this kitchen ourselves and the verdict is still out on whether it will be a hot mess or not. The walls needed to come down though and R and I both agreed on that.
R called me while on his lunch break. He was shouting, "The walls are gone. The walls are GONE! What did we do? Did we do the right thing?" He was literally melting down over the walls being gone.
I laughed a. because it wasn't me melting down and b. because seeing R nervous rarely happens. But yes, we did it. We knocked those walls all down and opened up our kitchen.
The biggest thing... I L O V E I T. It is becoming such a beautiful space. The morning light has me just standing in an empty construction zone smiling. This is our kitchen and this house is becoming a true home.
This picture shows where the walls us to be if you glance up at the ceiling. (the L shapes)
