Poppa Chuck

The song above is about all I have in me today.

Yesterday was a day of mixed emotions. My nephew Nathaniel Charles Willeford was born. I am an aunt for the fifth time. What a blessing!

Yesterday I also lost my grandfather, Charles "Chuck" Willeford. Yep, Nate is named after my grandfather who died the same day Nate was born.

My grandfather suffered a brain aneurysm a few weeks ago. Over these past few weeks he made a little progress but ultimately lost his battle. The amazing part...

My grandfather was brain dead and taken off life support days ago. His heart kept beating. He kept breathing. For days.

Right until Nate was born. Then he passed. I think he needed a few minutes with Nate. A few minutes to teach him some fun things to do. To meet the baby that would carry on his name. Things to not miss out on while growing up. Advice on life. I believe he prayed over Nate.

We lost one but gained a new life.

My grandpa taught me so much and about three weeks ago he said he loved me. I am clinging to that. Replaying the conversation over and over. The conversation before we ever knew he would pass away. What a great man.

I am the Lord your God.
I go before you now.
I stand beside you.
And I'm all around you.

Come to me.
I am all you need.
I am your everything.

I will forever love you Poppa. Forever and always.
