Life in 25 Years

{Well not today but Friday - via Etsy}

Guys, we are so close to my 25th birthday. Friday is the big day. Can you believe it? I remember being a little girl and pretending I was 25. So what will I be doing for my big birthday? I will be working (of course) and also driving home to meet my sweet new niece, Sadie Rose. I love family time!

I really haven't had any moments of panic with turning older but I have been thinking about a lot of things. Where is my life headed? Am I fulfilling each day? Am I making smart decisions for my future? I begin writing this post a few weeks back and have been adding a little point here and there. You know we should never stop learning. We should never stop growing. We should never stop dreaming. Yes, 25 is still extremely young but I have experienced a lot. I thought I would share some of my favorite life lessons learned the hard and easy way. Feel free to add your thoughts as well.

1. You learn patience at every age. My office job teaches me this the most. Patience is a life lesson and one that never will end. We might as well accept that now.

2. I still am searching for my career. You mean blogging and videography are not your career? Good question. I am still not sure where I am headed but I pray for God to light the way. I pray he open the right doors and closes the wrong ones.

3. I am in charge of my happiness. It took me a long while to learn this and some days I still have to remind myself of this one. Others can upset me. Others can frustrate me but I still decide my emotions.

4. I never thought I would be married at 25 but thank goodness I am. It is true. I thought I would be living the single life in a big city somewhere just working up the corporate ladder. Not that there is a single thing wrong with that but I found my best friend. I found him at a mere 22 years old. He makes my heart swell with happiness.

5. Marrying your best friend is a must. People have argued this point for years. Cue eye roll but I wouldn't have it any other way. Rusty is my best friend in the whole wide world. He is a good looking best friend too ;)

6. A fight or disagreement doesn't mean you have a bad relationship or are headed for a divorce. Guys, I hate fighting with Rusty. I also hate the term fighting. We do have disagreements rarely but I am learning that is normal. I am learning we will not always be 100% on the same page. We should be close but spats keep things interesting. My emotions sometimes take the best of me (hello all women) but I know we are in this forever.

7. You make it happen y'all. Plain and simple. Hate your job? Find a new one. Want to open your own business? Write the business plan and get to it. I have a few things up my sleeve. I think 25 is going to be my year. Ready? Me too.

8. I am not ready for a baby. Sorry Mom but it is true. Babies are in my future but not for a long while (unless God sees otherwise). We love our time together right now and I hope it stays that way for a while.

9. A size 10 is beautiful and so is curly hair. Gasp, you listed your pants size. Yeah, I sure did. I also have learned that God gave me curly, curly hair. I fought it with a flat iron for years but I find curly hair so fitting for my personality. Each day is different but I love my size. It has taken me a long time to get to this point. I do still have blah days but this is the body I have. As long as I am healthy, happy and curly headed I cannot complain. Besides, my husband has no complaints.

10. Big dreams are scary. My mind churns every day with ideas of my future. It scares me but I hear that is a good thing.

11. Family is everything. I love them. I wish we lived closer but one day we will. I have two nephews and two nieces. That is so cool and mind blowing. God is good to Rusty and I. We love being Aunt KK and Uncle Rust.

12. It gets harder to make life long friends the older you get. Cherish the ones you have now. Let your heart be open to meeting new people but never forget the ones who make you who you are today. Thanks goodness for friends who laugh with you and teach you more about yourself and cry with you. I am so lucky.

13. Right now are you happy? If not fix it. Each day goes quickly. Let's do something good with it. You don't have to solve the world's problems every day but you should do something to make you happy. Little or big, this point is important.

14. Give back. I need to do this more. It feels good.

15. Exercise and eat right. I still struggle with this but I do try every day. I am more aware than ever about what I am fueling my body with.

16. Have a hobby. Have a good hobby. One that you can do often and be proud of the result then show it off to everyone.

17. When in doubt, don't do it or say it. That means Facebook or to a friend.

18. Go a day or two without your phone. It is amazing and you will remember what it was like to just be home by dark so your parents/loved ones didn't worry about you.

19. I am blessed. 100 percent.

I have to say God has been good to me. 25 years of life and love and happiness and tears and births and celebrations and friends and family and relationships and struggles. I can only imagine just how good the next 25 will be! Happy Tuesday friends.
