DIY Paper Lantern

Lately I have been a big fan of lighting. I love an outdoor reception with tons of lights. Whether it is a strand of lights, candles or paper lanterns, lights tend to add a certain atmosphere of excitement and fun to any party. I saw these paper lanterns and thought we could totally DIY those.

Here's what you need:

Paper Sacks (Tan or White)

Tea Lights or Flame less Candles

X-acto knife

Printed Design or Stamp

Cardboard

Pencil

Matches or Lighter (preferably with a longer length)

Directions:

1. Before you start making your paper lantern print out a design onto a piece of computer paper. This design is for the outside of the bag. Cut a square around the design and tape it to the inside center of the bag.

2. Using your pencil trace the design on the front of the bag. The bag is light enough that the design shows through. You can also make the design double sided if you want a design on both sides of the bag.

3. Insert the cardboard in the middle of the bag and trace the design with the X-acto knife. If you are wanting to have a double sided bag skip the cardboard. The cardboard insures that the bag is one sided with a design.

4. Place tea light into the bag and light.

5. Enjoy this pretty DIY.

You can also try hanging the lights with wire or using string lights. These lanterns are perfect for showers, outdoor events, cookouts and parties. I also love them during the holidays.
