Friendship // Taking Stock
Friendship. What does it mean to you?
I have really been thinking about this topic lately. Taking stock of the friends around me and far away. Then I found this quote, "A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become and still gently allows you to grow." Well Shakespeare, I think you are on to something.
I know friendship isn't always about how a friend makes you feel but it is important. Are they encouraging?Do they value your time together? Do they lift you up? Judgement, do they pass it on you? Guidance, how do they give it? Honesty, even when you don't want to hear but need it?
And how are you back to them?
I hope the friends that I am building relationships with or maintaining relationships with feel importance in my friendship. To know I value them and am listening.
In college, I remember thinking how lucky I was to have so many friends. And at the time that was great but now I love having a handful of true, honest to goodness dear friends. I didn't realize how lucky I was to find a lot of these friends early on in life. 2, 18, 26. Whatever age, what is the most important quality in a friend to you?
