Love Song Friday // Volume 122

+ Love Song Friday. Let's admit it. This is the first one in weeks. But hey, I would rather put together good content than throw something up here.

+ I am so glad to be writing today. Oh, and happy Valentine's Day. Rusty is working so I plan on spending it at home with some movies and probably going to bed early. I know. I live on the wild side. We just don't make V-Day a big deal and never really have. We celebrated one year and felt silly. No offense to those who love it. I see why you like it so much. I do love all the love being shared. It warms my heart and makes me happy.

+ I am honestly really excited to see my high school kids tomorrow with Valentine's Day. Nine years ago (Eeeep!) I was on our sweetheart court and tomorrow some of my favorites are also on it. I love teaching at my alma mater. It is so neat. And yes, I still say neat. My kids roll their eyes when I do so you can too.

+ This week:
Monday: Tulsa Coffee Shop Engagement Session
Tuesday: Heart Jeans

+ Today of course I chose Beyonce. Her new(ish) song XO is one of my favorites. One, it is Beyonce and two, it combines love and meaningful lyrics. Man, I l-o-v-e this tune.

+ Baby love me lights out...

Love Song Friday, Volume 121

+ Is this really the first Love Song Friday of that year? Celebration time. Guys, this time of year is so encouraging. I wish I could bottle it up forever. Have I mentioned that before? Yeah, I have. How are you doing with your goals for the year? Resolutions still in tack? I hope so. But if not, you can get back on track. I pinky promise. You deserve to do your best. Even if that means starting over.

+ Weekend plans? I plan on going to our local coffee shop for a scone. I have been really into scones lately. Any good recipes you want to pass along? Also this is my only goal for the weekend.

+ I have Monday off. So it will consist of sleeping in, reading (awesome new book here - you should totally join the well book club), leftover scones, at least one movie, a nap, a walk with my puppies and some notebook writing. I am really into journaling lately. Point is, I need relaxation. It is okay to rest.

+ I am getting to see my brothers kids this weekend. How about five babes? Seriously, my brother has five kids. I sometimes can't believe it either. I love seeing their faces. And they all have funny stories to tell. My four-year-old nephew recently went to a Harlem Globetrotters game and got a red and white headband. Two days later, well, he is still wearing it. He is the cutest. They all are.

+ Can I just say how God is good? I didn't think you would mind either.

+ Monday: How a Little Tulle Skirt Can Change Your Day
+ Tuesday: DIY Gold Picture Frame
+ Thursday: Snowy Maine + Puppy Engagement Session

+ I am extra thankful for music today. John Legend is brilliant and talented and real. Yes, I love all kinds of music but a true musician who is pure talent? Now that just makes it so much better.

+ It is a throw confetti in the air and drink an extra cup of coffee type of day. Dooooooo it.

+ There are a couple of instructions before you can read this post any further. Grab some cocoa or coffee, your favorite slippers (if you are work, it it totally normal) and curl up in your favorite chair. Press play on the song up above. Better, right?

+ Love Song Friday = Cozy Song Friday

+ Guys, we moved into our new home and there is stuff everywhere. And by everywhere I mean literally e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. Guess what I am doing this weekend? Yeah. You got it right. Cleaning and unpacking.

+ I am so close to Christmas break. I am so close to Christmas break. I am so close to Christmas break. I am so close to Christmas break. I am so close to Christmas break. I am so close to Christmas break.

+ I am attempting some DIY gifts this weekend and really excited about it! :)

+ Monday: Whimsical Garden Wedding in Florida
+ Tuesday: Elegant and Traditional Downtown Hotel Wedding
+ Thursday: Making, Reading, Wanting + A Christmas Tree Picture

+ Oh Bobby Darin. Your voice. Your charm. Your perfect hair part. His version of Christmas Auld Lang Syne is a Love Song Friday must. Go press play again on the song.

+ Happy Friday loves! See you next week.

Love Song Friday, Volume 119

+ Another Friday and another fabulous love song.

+ We are having some pretty crazy cold weather this weekend. Not as cold as my friends up north (stay warm sweets) and in Arkansas snow or ice equal complete panic. Complete panic.

+ It is rainy here today and I have to be honest. I want to crawl back into bed. It is just one of those days.

+ I get to wake up next to my husband on a weekend for the first time in almost a month. To say I am excited is an understatement. Did I mention that he stayed up late on his early week into the office (they rotate) to help grade papers. Seriously? I sat and cried over it. He is the best and I get to say he is mine. Butterflies y'all. Butterflies.

+ I am wearing my new puffer vest from Loft today. You can get yours here and I highly suggest you do! It is polka dot and perfect :)

+ How about that picture up above of New York? I know. Heaven.

+ Monday: December Goals
+ Tuesday: Apple Orchard North Carolina Engagement Session
+ Thursday: Christmas Movies You Should Be Watching Now

+ Today's love song is one I had the privilege of hearing on Broadway when we saw Jersey Boys last year. Bye Bye Baby it is.

Love Song Friday, Volume 118

+ Hey there Friday. How are you? Warm I hope. I loved waking up to chilly air outside today. I cracked my bathroom window will I was getting ready to enjoy the air. It smells so good. It feels so good. It is refreshing. It is crisp. I thrive in cold weather. I am so glad that Fall is here. Fall, you are so pretty. Love, Katie

+ I C-A-N-N-O-T wait to sleep in tomorrow. Yes, sleeping in means about 8 a.m. in my world but it is such a lovely thought. I also plan on drinking two cups of coffee. Well, really the point is making time for two cups of coffee. I am so excited! (<---current sign of adulthood)

+ The picture up above is of the house Rusty and I currently live in and will be purchasing soon. I wish I had a more recent image with all the pretty leaves on the ground. I am hoping to spend Saturday tackling some of the home projects on my November goals list. Oh, and more on the house to come.

+ Can I just add that I am so glad that it is fuzzy sock weather? So glad!

+ I am craving Chinese food. Date night it is! I love date nights with Rusty. Good conversation with the man I love is so good for my soul.

+ This week:
+ Now for a little love song. I am in love with Boyce Avenue's version of Fast Cars. It fits my mood. It makes me happy. It is subtle. It is raw. It is Friday. Happy day friends. I hope your weekend is magical and I really mean that. And I cannot wait to see you next week. I am already looking forward to having you back.

Love Song Friday, Volume 117

+ Is okay with you if Love Song Friday is written in a list? Goodie.

+ I have a prayer request. A special man in my life is not doing well. My grandpa (Dad's dad) suffered an aneurysm on Monday. Things are looking grim. Say a little prayer for my family and especially my grandmother. She is one strong lady.

+ This is the first weekend in almost a month that I am not traveling. While I love hitting the road, staying home is nice too. I get to spend the weekend with my little family. High school football will be involved. A possible breakfast out with Rusty. Some baking of course. A nap for sure. Most definitely a nap.

+ Can I just say that I have never been a pumpkin carver? Is that weird? We just don't ever do that. Maybe when we have babes but not now. I am just proud of myself in that I did buy a few pumpkins for the front porch.

+ I am obsessed with Scandal on ABC. It is a problem. A problem, I say.

+ I was extremely tempted to post a Christmas picture on today's post. Hey, we are past Halloween. I digress but you do get to see this lovely image and a peek of a wedding coming up from Luna Bella Photography. I cannot say enough good things about Rebecca.

+ This video makes you realize it is okay to be a little weird and different. It will make you laugh out loud. Well, it did me at least.

Originally saw here but also on Youtube here

+ Please watch this video. It will melt your heart. And you know I love Katy Perry's Roar.

Love Song Friday, Volume 116

Is it really Friday already? Is this real life? This week went by so fast. But I don't mind a fast week if it is full of good memories. R and I finally got around to celebrating our anniversary with a very fabulous meal. It was full of goat cheese and a good glass of wine. I really think those two things make the world go round. The restaurant was also a nice change to the small amount of choices that we have here. It was in an old post office with exposed brick walls and the neatest bar area. We had to make a 30 minute drive but that just meant 30 minutes of R rapping and singing. It is such a treat. (Insert a bit of sarcasm) Ha!

\\\\\Weekly Recap Y'all/////
Monday: Gorgeous Pink and Candlelit Plantation Wedding
Tuesday: Backyard + Northport Bay Wedding
Thursday: Learning to Rest

We are road tripping this weekend. I love car rides with R and Jane dog. This is also where I could make another stab at R's music abilities. A few other things I am looking forward to this weekend include sleeping in, Fall leaves on the ground, cooler temperatures and family time. Family time is a soul healer.

Make sure you check out more of the wedding above. Do it. Sequined bridesmaids dresses equal goodness.

I heard a stripped down acoustic version of this song on a t.v. show this past week. While I cannot find that version yet (don't worry though because I will), I thought it would be perfect for today. An oldie. A goodie. A happy Friday. Enjoy your lovely weekend! And remember to rest...

Love Song Friday, Volume 115

Today is a I need to write my feelings type of day. I am at a loss. Lately, I have been praying for God to challenge me and he is. He is 100% challenging me. But now I am praying for what I am suppose to be learning with these challenges. Make sense? It doesn't to me either. I am asking God to show up... every day and he is and I don't know what to do now. I am learning that I have to pray and be constant with him every minute of the day. While that sounds extreme, I am learning that an early morning pray can wear off by say oh, fifth period class. I need him around all the time and not just on my terms.

God is teaching me something. While I am not sure what, I do now I want it. I am praying for these challenges but trusting in the outcome that I cannot see. I cannot even begin to see the end but I do have one little glimpse. But how can you want something that you have no idea about? I just do. This day, each day is a gift from God. He is shaping me and molding me. I get so far off course when he isn't around. I fill my days with garbage and negative. I am thankful he hears me. Even in the earliest of mornings, darkest of days, God listens to me. That brings tears and takes my breath away at the same time.

I do not know the future of my life at this moment. A lot of things are up in the air but I do know that I have this blog and Fall weather and family and friends and the need for a happier day to day life.

One song that I turn to every time I need a pick me up is Hey Jude by the Beatles. Nah, nah, nah, nahnahnah....

Happiest of Friday's and weekend friends. Remember to stay clear, focused and refreshed. :)

Love Song Friday, Volume 114

So this post is 100% dedicated to ladies. How awesome are we? Oh, don't get all modest today even though I did have a pro and con list of putting up a picture of me today. It is all about us today with no ounce of guilt.

Sometimes we women don't praise ourselves enough. And I am putting a stop to that today.

Now scroll to the song below and click play then come back.

Yes, that is the gals of Sex and the City singing to you. I am woman. Hear me roar in numbers to big to ignore.

I am strong. I am invincible. I am woman.

Let's talk about it. We are working women. Whether we are sitting at a desk, shaping young minds, being creative or cleaning up baby spit up, your work is important. It and you are needed every day. No job that you do is ever too little. We are overworked, under paid, exhausted, stretched to thin. But we rise above it every day. We are changing the world even with the smallest gesture. Some days we cannot make it out of the house with matching shoes on (true story) but we can come home that evening and love on our family. We are laundry queens. We are chefs. We are health nuts. We are brunettes, red heads, blondes, a little gray or maybe pink haired. We are all different shapes and sizes. We are all unique but we are bonded in that we can accomplish anything. I mean it. What would the world be like without your loving heart? Lame, I say.

So no matter what your plate looks like today or a month from now, learn to praise the good you do. Let the rest melt away. It is okay to lock yourself in the bathroom and sing into the mirror. It is okay to wear your favorite jeans two days in a row. It is okay to spend time pampering yourself. It is okay to soak an extra 5 minutes in the tub. It is okay to order dinner in for the night. Let it go.

You know we can never be perfect but I think we are doing a darn good job with our families, careers, friendships, our life. Rejoice in the good of today. Rejoice in what you have accomplished whether that is winning a big court case or getting your baby down for a nap. Your victory is yours. Let your hair down ladies. We are amazing (make sure you tell yourself that)....

And spicy....

And one-of-a-kind....

And God's creation....

We are woman.

Love Song Friday, Volume 113

FRIDAY!!!

The day of magic and also Homecoming at the high school I teach at. The kids are ready. I am so excited to see students play, dance, cheer, sing and toot their horn tonight. I love this time of year. And to top off our weekend I am hosting a little brunch tomorrow morning. Brunch is my favorite meal of the day accompanied with a glass of champagne. It is only fitting. Right?

What is on your agenda this weekend? I hope it includes sunshine and football or whatever melts your butter. A butter melting weekend. Because that isn't odd at all.

Love Song Friday, Volume 112

Here we are with another Love Song Friday. Another Friday. Another almost weekend. I am typing this post as rain beats against my window. I love that feeling. Today I have finally done it. I have finally wore myself so thin that I got sick. It is crazy to me that I know my body so well but I do. I know when I am starting to feel ill. I know when I am going to be sick and my only cure is lots and lots of sleep. I am not a medicine type gal so sleep it is.

We are also finally staying home this weekend too. Out of the past five, we have been out of town for four of them. I am thrilled and needing a good weekend at home. The only downside is this being sick thing is messing with my plans. The plans that I was so looking forward to.

You know we make plans so far in advance with no guarantee of the future. Ever thought about that? R and I want to take a trip sometime this winter but who knows where life will be at that moment. Who only knows? But you have to take those risks. If anything it teaches us to think about now. What are you doing now? Who are you blessing now? Who are you helping now? Matthew 6:34 always brings so much comfort to me:

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

It is all about today. No reason to worry. No reason at all. He has already taken care of your future. How wonderful is that thought?

Now onto a weekend of deep sleeps, cozy bath robes and netflix. But first a song....always a song...

Let's talk about those gals bright pink lipstick above. I am in love. While I love fall and leaves and chunky sweaters and cold nights, my color palette/wardrobe screams spring. Pink peonies, bright colors, freshly painted nails. I dig you spring but welcome fall with big, wide, open arms.

Another weekend getaway and this road trip is longer than the last. My husband just adores when I sleep the entire. time. My favorite is when he takes incriminating pictures of me sleeping with my mouth open. In the meantime, I have plans of mimosas on Saturday morning followed by football. Please, oh please, Fayetteville have some colorful leaves and signs of fall for me.

Weekend plans? Share away friends.

I needed a perfect song for today. You know I use the word perfect a lot. A lot. So what does it mean? Maybe I should write a post on that. One day I will. Until then though know that perfect in my book changes every day. Perfect can mean just making it one day while another it means a lot of sunshine. Perfect changes with my world. It should with yours too. Again, another post, another time. Make perfect your own. Your own.

Until then, Ain't To Proud To Beg by the Temptations. What else did you expect? :)

Love Song Friday, Volume 110

A day devoted solely to Love Song's. Is there a better day than this? And it also happens to fall on Friday. Magic.

The Farrin's are sneaking away for the weekend. We are spending our days off in Little Rock with one of my favorite couples. Also added to the list is eating good eats, relaxing, multiple cups of coffee in the morning but mostly, meeting the newest love of my life, Ruth. My dearest friend Summer recently had her sweet baby girl. It is time for Aunt and baby to meet.

I also plan on talking my husband into a little shopping. But the biggest thing is absolutely no work until Sunday when we get home. I am declaring this publicly. Husband, hold me to it.

Today I have joy. Real, pure, raw joy. God gives when you need it most and for that I am thankful.

We made it. I made it. I am making the most of today. The idea that I get uber amounts of family time plus an extra day added to my weekend does help too! Plans for Saturday include not getting out of bed and totally vegging out on t.v. Just the idea...heavy and grateful sigh. What do you have up your sleeve? Share away :)

I have been thinking about the words that I speak a lot lately. Am I being positive? Am I making an impact? Am I creating smiles? I have been on the negative train lately and it is so boring and tiring. Personally, it is so lame. That may be why I am totally loving Sara Bareilles Brave. Favorite line (other than every lyric):

Show me how big your brave is.

Isn't that good stuff y'all? Say what you want to say and let the words fall out...

Love Song Friday, Volume 108

I am in a quiet mood. It may be this weather. It may be my lack of sleep. I don't know what it is but God is telling me to be still. And I am listening. I am listening tentatively. Aren't the quiet moments some of the greatest? The moments when you know that God is working on your heart. Or putting things into place for you. I hope you take the time to rest this weekend. Rest is good for the soul. It is currently on my agenda for this afternoon.

Today's song is perfect for my mood and this weekend. Lissie's cover of You Can Go Your Own Way is fabulous. I first heard it in Safe Haven and bookmarked it for a day like to day.

Friends, make the most of your weekend. Have fun with family and friends and love what you do!

Love Song Friday, Volume 106 + Thoughts on Growing Older

So Saturday is an important day. 26 years ago I was born. Holy cow? 26 y'all. I reemember acting like I was 26 in my play pretend childhood. 26 was cool. I guess that makes me cool now. I was really excited about turning 25 but 26 is just weird. Not quiet 30 but not 25. Limbo really.

Regardless, I made a promise to myself that this is my year. And every year after that. From this post, you can understand why I made this promise. It is a new time. And aren't you thankful that God gives us new days? I am. I literally have days where I cry because people cannot drive. I take driving seriously. Apparently overly seriously. :)

My point is that I get to celebrate a new age. I am thrilled for what is ahead of me this year. I feel like every year a new surprise comes along. It holds true this past year. So with 25 we...
  • moved twice
  • sold our home
  • paid two payments on places to live until said house sold
  • lived a part for a little over a month
  • got new jobs (2 a piece. We like to over achieve or move a lot. However you look at it)
  • sold a ton of our stuff
  • downsized like crazy people
  • lived more intentionally
  • paid off more debt
Just imagine what I can do with 26. Buckle up buttercup.

Also I plan to celebrate my birthday morning with spudnuts. Not sure what a spudnut is? More here. It is better than Dunkin Donuts, cronut madness, Krispy Kreme. Maybe even heaven? Just kidding on that last one.

Final note, that picture up above is of my first or second dance recital. I thought it went well with today's post. The other cheeky gal is one of my best friends to this day, Laura. She is just traveling the world and currently living in China. You know. Totally normal these days.

Love Song Friday, Volume 104

Hey y'all. It is Friday. I am currently on the streets of El Dorado hitting up garage sales. I have an itch to redo a piece of furniture and give it away. Just call me crazy. I feel like today is going to be random. I had a random breakfast. I have random thoughts. I have a random hair do. Well, it is actually how it looks every day i.e. not styled, in a ponytail. Let's just cover the random thoughts:

1. I want a vacation. Rusty and I already have a date picked but we cannot decide on where. We need options and suggestions. We don't want to spend an arm and a leg but we prefer all inclusive (hello room service). We also don't want to go to Mexico (the road traveled two times already). Are you brains churning? Send away.

2. I got to see an ultrasound for the first time yesterday. Like a for real heart beating, ribs developing, face a bit blurry ultrasound. My sister-in-law is welcoming her 5th baby this winter and she asked me to come with her today. She is trying to feed my I want a baby disease (well not disease but you get what I am saying). It was incredible. I cried and then bumped my head. In that order.

3. Do you like this blog? I have a dear friend (love to sweet Alexandra) who challenges me. I mean her blog is flawless. Her goals are obvious. She is taking the world by storm but a total happy storm. She asked me the direction of this blog. Uh, good question. I like weddings and love. It will always remain. What do you guys think? Maybe I should create a survey. Fashion? Recipes? Life with love and weddings and glitter mixed in? Again, I need those thoughts people.

4. Thank goodness for Friday. And coffee. And moo moo's to sleep in. And family dinners. And big kid responsibilities like vehicle registration. The last one is a complete joke.

Love Song Friday, Volume 103

Guys it is that glorious day again. Hey Friday. I have been counting down the days until this weekend. I am so excited to be spending an afternoon with my best friend who is expecting her first baby in August. In college, there was a little group of us gals who were all real close. We all graduated, got married, moved across the U.S. and are all entering different stages of life. I am elated to celebrate the baby stage! Bring one the onesies, baby books, maternity tank tops and the baby choo's.

We are also moving this weekend. R starts his new job on Monday and to celebrate we are loading up our favorite people and going to the lake. The lake for me equals oversized hats, my new lobster shorts and sleeping in the sun. I need this break. I have 100% stressed myself out with moving and I just don't know why. It will all get done. No reason to worry but I have. I need sun y'all. Lots of fun and sun!

There really isn't an explanation to this song. It speaks for its self. It is one of those good tunes, warm fuzzies, windows down kind of song. Queen's Somebody to Love is a favorite. I hope you have a great weekend y'all and I will see your pretty face on Monday!
